GLT Sürücü app privacy policy

This document explains in plain language what data GLT Transport’s Android app “GLT Sürücü” (GLT Driver) collects, why we use it, who can see it and how long we keep it.

Last updated: 16.10.2026

01. Who is responsible for the data

The GLT Sürücü app is provided by GLT Transport (glttransport.com.tr), which is also responsible for the data the app collects. Our head office is in Istanbul (Türkiye), with further offices in Baku (Azerbaijan) and Rzeszów (Poland). Contact: info@glttransport.com.tr. This policy covers only the driver app; the website itself is covered by our general privacy policy.

02. Who the app is for

The app is for drivers who carry GLT shipments: GLT’s own drivers and drivers of subcontracted carriers working on GLT shipments. It works only with a 6-digit shipment code issued by the GLT office and is not intended for the general public or for children.

03. What data we collect

Only what is needed to run the shipment. The app does not read your phone number, IMEI, advertising ID, contacts, photos or files.

  • Shipment code — the 6-digit code you enter. It links the phone to that shipment.
  • Your name — the name you type in the app. If the office has already recorded a driver name on the shipment, that name is shown instead.
  • Phone details — manufacturer and model, Android version, app version and the language you chose.
  • Device identifier — a key derived from the phone’s Android ID. It is used so that one shipment code works on only one phone.
  • Phone status — battery level, whether location (GPS) is switched on, and when the phone last contacted the server.
  • IP address — the address the phone uses to reach the internet. Used for security and to stop codes from being guessed.
  • Location points — coordinates, the time of the point, accuracy, speed and direction of travel. The phone also sends altitude, but the server does not store it.
  • Status buttons — which button you pressed (“Tachograph rest”, “Border queue”, “Customs queue”, “Truck broke down”, “At loading”, “Back on the road”, “I have arrived”, “Cargo delivered”), when you pressed it and the location at that moment (a location measured in the last 5 minutes, or a new one measured once when you press the button).
  • Messages — your chat with the GLT office in the app.

04. When location is collected

  • Only after you enter a shipment code and start location sharing. Before that, the app does not collect location.
  • For as long as the phone is linked to an active shipment — including in the background: when the app is closed, when it is swiped away from the recent apps list and after the phone restarts. A persistent notification is shown the whole time.
  • About one point every 30 minutes — not continuously. When you press a status button, the location is also measured once (for up to 2 minutes) and sent with it, so the office sees where the event happened.
  • Without internet, points are kept on the phone and sent when the connection returns; points that have been sent are deleted from the phone.
  • Location sharing stops by itself when the office approves the delivery, the shipment is closed, the shipment code is regenerated or you log out. After you press “Cargo delivered”, new points are not added to that shipment until the office has reviewed the delivery.

05. Why we use the data

  • Shipment tracking — the GLT office sees where the vehicle is, plans the work and keeps the customer informed.
  • Arrival at the Azerbaijan border — when the vehicle reaches an Azerbaijani border checkpoint, the system records it automatically and e-mails the shipment invoice to the customer.
  • Customs free time and demurrage — the time you press “I have arrived” starts the free time at customs; demurrage is calculated from that moment.
  • Customer tracking page — until delivery, the shipment’s customer sees the vehicle position and the estimated arrival time on its tracking link or portal.
  • Communication — chat with the office and instant alerts to the office about breakdowns and delivery.
  • Security — preventing code guessing and making sure one code works on only one phone.

06. Who can see the data

  • GLT staff — office staff handling the shipment see the data listed above in GLT’s internal system.
  • The shipment’s customer — from the moment the phone is linked to the shipment until it is unloaded, on its tracking link or portal: the vehicle position on a map, the nearest town, direction and speed of travel, the time of the last update, the estimated arrival time and the moment of arrival at the Azerbaijan border. The border invoice e-mail names the border checkpoint. The customer does not see your name, phone details, battery level, IP address or messages.
  • Hosting provider — the website, database and e-mail run on its servers; it stores the data only on our behalf.
  • Public authorities — only where the law requires it.
  • We do not sell the data or use it for advertising. The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs and talks only to the glttransport.com.tr server.

07. How long we keep the data

On the phone: points are kept only until they reach the server; when you log out, shipment details, unsent points and the access token are deleted from the phone. On our server: location history, button events and messages are kept with the shipment record for as long as they are needed for the shipment, accounting and legal obligations (disputes, customs and demurrage calculations). There is currently no automatic deletion — on request we delete your data unless the law requires us to keep it.

08. Security

The app talks to the server only over an encrypted HTTPS connection. After login the phone receives an access token; the server does not store it in plain form, only as a one-way hash. The token is revoked when you log out; when the shipment code is regenerated, the phone is unlinked from that shipment. Data on the phone is kept in the app’s private storage and is not backed up to the cloud. Only authorised GLT staff can access GLT’s internal system.

09. Your choices and rights

  • You can refuse the location permission, or withdraw it at any time in the phone settings — the app then cannot share your location.
  • You can stop location sharing at any time by tapping “Log out” in the app; uninstalling the app also stops all collection.
  • To access, correct or delete the data we hold about you, write to info@glttransport.com.tr and include the shipment code and your name.

10. Changes

We update this policy when the app changes. The current version is always published at this address, and the date of the last change is shown at the top of the page.
